HMS Parents/Guardians: HMS students will be taking the 5 Essentials survey on Friday, March 7. This survey provides us with useful information regarding school climate and culture and the results are included in our School Report Card. You may choose to opt your student out of the survey. To do that, you must sign the opt out form and have your student return it to the office no later than March 5. You only need to sign the form if you DO NOT want your child to take the survey. You can view the survey online at the website on the opt out letter.
The volleyball game scheduled for tonight at Carterville has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 5 at 5:00 pm.

Girls who plan to tryout for volleyball tomorrow (6th grade) and Saturday (7th and 8th grade) must be at school and healthy tomorrow to tryout. There will be an alternate tryout date next week for students who are sick. Students must also have a current physical and all forms completed. Athletes with games tomorrow and Saturday must be at school and healthy tomorrow to attend the games.
The boys basketball game against Benton is tonight at 5:00 p.m. Due to the number of students who are absent, cheerleaders will not cheer tonight and the band will not be playing. 8th grade night for the band is also canceled for tonight and will be rescheduled for a later date.
Volleyball tryouts have been postponed due to our girls’ basketball team advancing to the state championship. There will be a volleyball open gym held on Thursday, January 23 for those interested in trying out. The varsity girls basketball team and cheerleaders will NOT attend this open gym as they have prior commitments.
8th grade open gym will be from 5:30 - 6:30 pm.
7th grade open gym will be from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.
6th grade open gym will be from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.

HMS volleyball tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 22. Tryouts for 7th and 8th grade will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Tryouts for 6th grade will be from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. The team will be posted outside the HMS gym doors at 8:00 pm. You must have an up to date physical and insurance packet turned in prior to the day of tryouts.
The HMS Builders Club is sponsoring a Bucket for Benefit Laundry Detergent Fundraiser. If you want to help support the Builders Club, contact Mrs. DeNeal at sdeneal@harrisburg3.org or any Builders Club member.
2:00 Dismissal Today for Christmas Break and the HMS Talent Show. The annual HMS Talent Show is today at 8:30 a.m. in the commons area at HMS. Family and friends are welcome to attend. If you plan to sign your child out following the Talent Show, please make those arrangements with your child before school today. There will be sign out sheets at the door. Students are only allowed to be signed out by a parent/guardian or another adult on their emergency contact list. For those remaining at school, we have a 2:00 dismissal today.
Basketball and cheerleading picture order forms were sent home today (Wednesday, Dec. 18). Make sure that you get them from your student so that you will have your personal order code.
